However, the American consumer has shown remarkable resilience. And purchase orders that go out three months in advance to Asia look stable, a good sign.”

 

Port of Long Beach Imports Fall 13% Under Trade War Tumult

Toys and sports equipment declined 15%, while there was also a 43% decline in synthetic fiber imports and a 21% drop in salt, sulfur and cement, he said.

 

Intermodal volumes see 5.9% annual January decline, reports IANA

Trailers, at 39,449, fell 7.2% annually, marking an improvement over December’s 14.6% annual decline. Domestic containers, at 702,659, were off 2.5% annually, and all domestic equipment, which is comprised of trailers and domestic containers, at 742,108, decreased 2.8%. ISO, or international containers, at 726,939, were off 8.9% annually.

 

Cass, Caspian partner to tackle tariff costs

Walmart agrees to $100M settlement over payments to gig delivery drivers

The complaint alleges that Walmart failed to notify drivers that, unlike the payment for the goods being delivered, the payment for the advertised tip amount had not been preauthorized, and therefore drivers would not receive that amount if the customer was unable to cover the cost of the tip or if the charge otherwise failed.

CARB approves climate transparency regulation for entities doing business in California

What you need to know:  The California Air Resources Board (CARB) approved an item at its February meeting to establish the administration and implementation fees for the Climate Corporate Data Accountability Act and the Climate-Related Financial Risk Act, and the first-year reporting deadline under the Climate Corporate Data Accountability Act. This initial regulation was developed to satisfy the requirements of Senate Bills (SB) 253 and 261, as amended by Senate Bill 219.

California Air Resources Board Approves Proposed Corporate Climate Disclosure Regulation

NMFTA Targets Freight Fraud and Telematics Supply Chain Risks

Freight fraud and cargo theft often succeed for one simple reason: It’s too easy to pretend to be someone you’re not. The National Motor Freight Traffic Association is working to address that.

NMFTA announced several new initiatives to help:

  • A centralized source for NMFTA’s freight fraud prevention information.
  • Investigating the prevalence of “white-labeling” telematics hardware.
